The Iraq invasion was definitely a total mistake from the very beginning. The invasion never gained legal support from the UN nor the international society. The US coalition was established rather based on getting “a piece of the pie”. The invasion delivered profits only for several multi-national corporations, but on the other hand created a multi-dimensional devastation for the Iraqis, both infrastructure and also the society. Despite all that, the most important thing right now is the post-conflict reconstruction of Iraq, not only for the infrastructure, but the most important thing is the reconstruction and the reconciliation of the society. I believe that the US government have insufficient resources to fix the problem, although it is obvious that they are the most responsible for the devastation. This is a call for the global civil society to take a more active role in the reconstruction process. The global civil society has taken a great part in the millennium development goals to reduce world poverty. Why not for Iraq?
